Sedge Stitch Crochet Shawl: Cozy and Stylish

Crochet shawls are a fantastic way to add some style and warmth to your wardrobe, and there are so many different patterns to choose from. Today, I’ll be introducing a new rectangular crochet shawl pattern that is perfect for any season that uses the Sedge Stitch.

Materials

The Sedge Stitch shawl is a rectangular shawl that is worked lengthwise using a worsted weight yarn and an H/8 (5mm) crochet hook. I used Caron Jumbo yarn in Blue Raspberry.

Design

The shawl’s main stitch is the Sedge Stitch which uses a single crochet, half double crochet, and double crochet stitches. It’s a one row repeat so the shawl works up quickly.

One of the unique features of the Sedge Stitch shawl is its use of color. The shawl is worked using variegated yarn, which gives a lot of color to the piece without having to weave in a ton of ends. This shawl is for my daughter, so I wanted to create it using her favorite color – teal!

The Sedge Stitch crochet shawl’s finished size is 20 inches wide by 52 inches long, making it the perfect size to wear as a wrap or a scarf. You can easily adjust the size of the shawl by working fewer or more rows, depending on your preference.

The shawl pattern is suitable for crocheters of all skill levels. The pattern includes written instructions, step by step pictures, and a video link to doing the Sedge Stitch making it easy to follow along with.

The Sedge Stitch shawl is a beautiful and versatile pattern that is perfect for anyone looking to add a new crochet project to their pattern stash. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced crocheter, this pattern is sure to be a fun and easy project to work on.
