Cozy Blanket Stitch Striped Lapghan

A popular crochet stitch that is perfect for creating blankets is the blanket stitch. In this blog post, I’ll introduce you to a new blanket stitch crochet pattern that you can use to create your own beautiful and unique blanket.

The blanket stitch is a simple yet elegant stitch that is perfect for creating a textured and cozy look. The great thing about this blanket stitch pattern is that it’s easy to customize to your liking. You can use any yarn color you want, and you can also experiment with different yarn weights and hook sizes to create blankets of different sizes and thicknesses. Additionally, you can easily adjust the pattern to make it wider or narrower, depending on your preference.

Materials

The Blanket Stitch Lapghan is creating using Caron One Pound Yarn in Living Coral, White, Aqua. I used an I (5.5mm) crochet hook which I think worked well with this blanket. The tension wasn’t too tight but you could still see the beautiful texture of the blanket stitch.

Design

The lapghan’s main stitch is the Blanket Stitch which consists of single crochet and double crochet stitches. I used the blanket stitch for the rows of coral and aqua. For the rows with white yarn, I used the simple single crochet. I think the alternating rows really helps to make the colors pop.

I made this lapghan for a friend of my son’s and so I wanted to incorporate her favorite color: teal. After doing some research on colors that compliment teal well, I chose the coral and it didn’t disappoint. I think these two colors really work well together.

The Blanket Stitch lapghan’s finished size is 51 inches long by 37 inches wide. You can easily adjust the size of the lapghan by working fewer or more rows, depending on your preference.

The lapghan pattern is suitable for crocheters of all skill levels. The pattern includes written instructions, step by step pictures, and a video link to doing the Blanket Stitch and the Reverse Shell Border making it easy to follow along with.
