I love the look of Tunisian crochet because some stitches look so much like knitting without the struggle of actually knitting, which I’m not very good at! The Tunisian Knit Stitch is one of those stitches. Also I wanted to create something that I could take to work in case I get cold so I can wrap up in it. And that’s how the Extended Tunisian Knit Stitch Shawl was created!!
Design
The Extended Tunisian Knit Stitch Shawl is a 1 row repeat with the knit stitch and a chain 1. It works up super fast once you get the hang of it. Which I love as it doesn’t require a ton of mental focus and energy especially at the end of the day! And the bonus is that there’s very little curling with this stitch since there’s a chain 1 after each stitch.
The shawl also has pockets too which is nice and can hold a cell phone or any other item you’re carrying. The fringe just adds a little something extra to the shawl – I always love how fringe looks on shawls and wraps.
Materials
The Extended Tunisian Knit Stitch Shawl uses Red Heart Super Saver Pooling Yarn in Haute. The yarn color really gave the piece some dimension.
I also used a Tunisian hook in K/10.5 (6.5 mm). I know with Tunisian, it’s recommended to go up a size or 2 from what is called out on the yarn package. And I think the size K/10.5 worked really well for this project.
