Purple Shell Stitch Crochet Baby Blanket

Today I’m sharing the Purple Shell Stitch Crochet Baby Blanket crochet pattern. I absolutely love the color purple and wanted to make a blanket with those colors. I really love how it turned out. The white really helps to make both shades of purple stand out.

Design

This version of the shell stitch pattern is a 4 row repeat using single crochet and treble crochet stitches. Once you get the hang of the pattern, it works up pretty quickly.

For the border, I used a herringbone half double crochet stitch which is a stitch I’ve used before and I really like working with it. And this border gives a lot of flexibility; it can go with any stitch count and you can make as many rounds as you need for the blanket.

Materials

For the Purple Shell Stitch Baby Blanket, I used Caron Simply Soft yarn in Off White, Orchid, and Iris. I’ve used Caron Simply Soft yarn a lot for my past blankets and I really love working with it. It’s so soft, so it’s perfect for baby blankets. I also used a size H (5mm) crochet hook which worked perfectly with this stitch and yarn combination.

You can see a free copy of the Purple Shell Stitch Baby Blanket pattern pattern below. If you’d like a formatted PDF printable with step by step instructions of the pattern you can get it from my Etsy Shop here.
