In today’s post, I want to share the Block Stitch Crochet Baby Blanket. I’m really loving how the blanket turned out. I think the white really makes both the blue colors pop. And it’s super snuggly and perfect to wrap a baby in. Once you get the hang of the stitch, the baby blanket moves quickly.
Design
The Block Stitch is a 4 row repeat using a combination of chains, single crochet, and double crochet stitch variations. The stitch makes it easy to change up colors.
I’ve done several baby blankets using pink and purple colors, so this time I wanted to use blue colors. And I think the white is a perfect contrast to the blues.
To finish off the blanket, I added a zig zag border in the royal blue. It’s an easy border to work and makes the perfect outline for the blanket.
Materials
For the hook size, I used a US I/9 (5.5 mm) crochet hook which is what the yarn suggested. I think it helped the Block Stitch to come out perfectly.
For the yarn, I used Caron Simply Soft which I’ve used for some of my other baby blankets. I really love using this yarn. It is so soft and is pretty easy to work with. Plus there are quite a few colors to choose from!
